Racing the Torino at Le Mans Classic 2008

Scalectric_truxmore_torino Some of you might want to know what it takes to race the real Torino at Le Mans Classic 2008, instead of having this Scalectric model run on your living room floor. Well, here are the basics:

1. restore the newly found Donlavey chassis to its 1976 Grand International configuration. This does include a BOSS 429 under the hood and Hurst Airheart brakes on all four corners

2. Paint and decal it to its exact 1976 Le Mans livery

3. Fit it with all modern safety hardware, like a fiberglass bucket seat, a one gallon extinguisher (no halon please!) with remote and drivers access, a kill switch and a five point state of the art harness.

4. Get it approved by the FIAs tough expert, Jeremy Hall

5. Get it entered among the 65 priviledged cars to be allowed at Le Mans Classic

When you got all this done, comes the easy stuff: test it on a roadcourse in the USA, tune it, ship it to Europe, get your FIA licence, plan your journey to France, bring your pit crew or hire the locals, test and tune in France, wine and dine, blaze down the big Le Mans track, have fun!

If you need some help on all this, just contact either Dick Pierson or CAMTECS Engineering: We have been there and done exactly that with a NASCAR Charger !
